This feature enables support for Jakarta XML Web Services 3.0. These web services and clients communicate using XML. Annotations can be used to simplify the development of service clients and endpoints.

If you are updating your application from using the xmlWS-3.0 feature to using the xmlWS-4.0 feature, changes in API behavior might require you to update your application code. For more information, see Differences between Jakarta XML Web Services 4.0 and 3.0.

Enabling this feature

To enable the Jakarta XML Web Services 3.0 feature, add the following element declaration into your server.xml file, inside the featureManager element:
